Disneyland for Dinner

An impromptu evening at Disneyland; what a way to finish out the week! We had a big day today and after naps and baths, mommy surprised the girls with a special treat. I told them we were going someplace special and Madeleine asked, "McDonalds!?" When I answered it was better than McDonalds, she looked perplexed. What could possibly be better than McDonalds? She thought for a minute and then squealed, "Disneyland?" When I said yes, high pitched screams ensued, then running through the house, bumping into each other, crashing to the floor, laughing, getting up only to fall down again in a heap of giggles. We haven't been since December so this really was a special treat. I don't know how it comes to be that you get there, you go on two rides, you have an ice cream cone and all of a sudden you've been there four hours? The girls didn't seem to mind that we didn't exactly hit every ride. They hit their favorites, Casey Jr. Circus train, luckily we scored the pink, Monkey Cage....the teacups, luck was on our side again when we got the pink teacup, and actually if you count the tram (there and back), we went on quite a few rides. We somehow dodged a big bullet with Small World being closed for renovation (apparently you will soon be able to eat all the massive turkey legs you want and still be able to ride comfortably in the Small World boats). Lily accepted that we would go on Small World at Christmastime, good thing a two year old has not concept of time. The Tiki Room is still a no-go (drums are too loud); Haunted Mansion is a no (we like to listen to Jack Skellington's music but we don't want to SEE him); Alice in Wonderland doesn't make the cut because the Queen is scary and she reaches out towards you; Storybookland and Toontown were both closed; Nemo is a no, due to the scarcely seen shark, the Ferris Wheel at California Adventure is too high and the gunshot on The Jungle Cruise is too loud. Yet, somehow we still had a lot of fun!
